Conceived as a model for smart growth, the Easton plan reflects efforts to create one of the finest master-planned communities in the region. A collection of five distinctive planning areas called “boroughs,” each borough is planned as a self-contained community providing for a balance of residential, educational, professional and recreational uses. Spanning three adjacent jurisdictions, the boroughs are linked by superior community character, attention to design, and a commitment to quality.
All boroughs are planned in accordance with smart growth principles advocated by the Urban Land Institute and the Sacramento Region Blueprint: Transportation/Land Use Study.

Easton will:
RESTORE approximately 6,000 acres of fallow land, disturbed by historic gold-mining operations dating back over a century.
CONSERVE natural resources inaccessible for 50 years—the Alder Creek Basin, oak woodlands, wildlife habitats, and an interpretive nature center, all linked by a master trails network.
PROVIDE a vibrant master-planned community with a balance of land uses, housing diversity, transportation options, employment opportunities, pedestrian-friendly amenities, and an outstanding educational system. To be funded by the voter authorization of $750 million in school construction bonds, a total of 18 new schools will be interspersed through Easton’s five boroughs.
