Easton: Smart Growth Through Innovation

Just as California’s heritage was conceived through the allure of gold, local lands that once bore these riches hold a renewed promise for the future.

In the mid 1900’s, Aerojet-General Corporation acquired approximately 12,600 acres of land in Eastern Sacramento County. Aerojet converted these former gold fields into one of the premier rocket manufacturing and testing facilities in the free world. However, most of this land was used to provide safe buffer zones for Aerojet's testing and manufacturing operations.

Located 15 miles northeast of Sacramento along Highway 50, a key growth corridor in the region, approximately 6,000 acres of the Aerojet lands are now being planned as a unique community called Easton, a vibrant blend of five boroughs designed to meet the region’s future needs for jobs, housing, commerce and recreation. Easton will be a living blueprint for sustainability, providing balanced land use options for a superior community where people can live, work and play.
